Hey AMS!Hope you guys are still coping alright with the second sem! AMS is going to have our very own “AMS Street Soccer Cup!” Now the details are as follows: 1. Each team will consist of 8 players (4 outfield, 1 goalkeeper, 3 substitutes). Both boys and girls are allowed to participate in this competition. 2. 3. Drinks will be provided for each team's first match of the competition. (HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!) 4. Competition format: Group stages in the beginning and knockout stages in the latter part of the competition. (Teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 teams. After each team has played against each other once, the top 2 teams in each group will proceed to the knockout stages.) 5. 6. All members of the winning team will receive a trophy for the inaugural AMS Street Soccer Cup. Trophies will also be given out to the best player and top scorer of the event! Please do give us a hand by encouraging your classmates to participate in this competition! Participation in this event will serve as a great opportunity for class bonding and yet another opportunity for us to get to know the others in the diploma - freshman, juniors, seniors as we cheer one another on at this awesome event :D Class reps, please update us the consensus of your class, whether or not they would like to participate in this competition. Rules and Regulations for Street Soccer Cup (1) Teams Maximum of 5 players per team on the court: - 4 outfield players - 1 goalkeeper - plus 3 substitute players (“rolling substitutions” apply) (2) Duration of Matches - Two halves of 7 minutes each plus one minute interval in between each half (3) Start - The match starts when the referee throws the ball into the court and blows the whistle (4) Goalkeeper Rules - A goalkeeper may not score goals - The goalkeeper may not leave the penalty area - The goalkeeper may not hold the ball longer than 4 seconds in his penalty area (“playing for time”). A penalty kick will be awarded to the opposing team if he does so. - The pass back rule applies. If a goalkeeper picks the ball up with his hands after receiving a pass back from a team mate, the opposing team is awarded a penalty. Any of the other outfield players or substitutes may change places with the goalkeeper. There is no restriction to the amount of times the goalkeeper may be changed but the following conditions must be observed: i) The change can only be made during a stoppage in play ii) The referee is satisfied there is no intention to deliberately time waste (5) Rules for Penalty Area - Outfield players must not enter the penalty area. This rule applies to both attacking and defending players ("fishing for the ball" is not allowed). - If a player from the defending team enters the penalty area, the other team receives a penalty. - If a player from the attacking team enters the penalty area, the other team receives a free kick. (6) One Player always in Opposition Half - At least one player must remain in the opposition half of play. A foul will be awarded against a team where the whole team is in its own half. - If the team is a player or more down this rule will not apply. (7) Time-wasting - The referee can award a penalty against a team which is persistently time-wasting after the team has been first warned about its conduct. (8) Penalty Kicks A penalty for the opposing team is given when: - a player from the defending team enters the penalty area - a team passes back three times in a row directly to their own goalkeeper (without a player from the opposing team having had the chance to touch the ball) - the goalkeeper holds the ball longer than 4 seconds in his penalty area (“playing for time”) - the goalkeeper picks up the ball with his hands when he receives a back pass from a player on his own team - due to foul play in front of the goal area (9) Rules for Free Kicks and Out Balls Free Kicks - Free kicks may be either direct or indirect. The ball shall be stationary when the kick is taken and the kicker may not touch the ball a second time until it has touched another player. - Position of free kick: All opponents shall be situated at least 3 metres from the ball until it is in play. The ball shall be deemed in play after it has been touched or played. When a defending team is taking a free kick from inside its own penalty area, all opponents shall remain outside said area. The ball shall be deemed in play immediately after it has left the penalty area. All kicks must be taken within 4 seconds. The referee awards a free kick for: - all fouls on the court except for any offence, which is seen as a "penalty offence" - if a player holds the perimeter board with both hands Out Balls - The ball is deemed out of play when the entire ball has crossed the touch line or the goal line, or when the referee stops the game. The ball is in play at all other times including when the ball rebounds off the goalposts or the referees when they are on the field of play. - If the ball goes out of play over the board the ball must be kicked in at ground level at the position where the ball went out of the field of play. All players of the opposing team must be a minimum of 2 metres from the ball at the roll-in point. If a ball goes out of play on behind the goal: By the attacking team: the goalkeeper receives the ball and kicks or throws the ball back in By the defending team: The attacking team receives a corner and kicks the ball in by hand at ground level. All players of the opposing team must be a minimum of 2 metres from the roll-in corner. (10) Fouls In the event of a foul or unfair play the referee may judge as follows: Yellow card (two minutes time exclusion): For foul play a player will be excluded from the match for two minutes during which time the team has to play with one less player. A player given a yellow card will be sent off for two minutes and not allowed back on. After two minutes have elapsed the player given the yellow card will be replaced by another player from the team. Red card (match penalty): for serious foul play a player is excluded from the rest of the match. The team has to play with one less player for the remainder of the match. A red card will only be given for serious foul play, violent conduct or abuse of the referee. The player will be sent off immediately and not be allowed back during the game. No replacement player will be allowed on. The player will be suspended for his team’s next game. - Exclusion from the tournament for a team: If rules are seriously breached (heavy foul play, foul play on purpose, unacceptable behaviour on the court towards the referees, the audience or other players), one player or a team can be excluded from the tournament. If a whole team is excluded from the tournament then all the matches played or scheduled to be played by that team will be awarded to the opposition with a 0:3 score line (11) Tournament Format The tournament starts with the Group Stages and will proceed to the Knockout Stage after each team has played against all other teams in the same group. Each group will consist of 4 teams and there will be a total of 2 groups in the competition. The winner and runner-up in each group will move on to the Knockout Stage. All other teams will be eliminated from the competition. In the Knockout Stage, the winner in the group will play against the runner-up of the other group. This match will be known as a ‘Semi-Finals’ match. There will be a total of 2 ‘Semi-Finals’ matches in the competition. The winner of both ‘Semi-Finals’ matches will compete against each other in the ‘Finals’ and the winner of that match will be crowned champions. (12) Points System A goal is scored when the entire ball crosses the goal line within the goalposts. Goals cannot be scored with the hand or if the ‘goal’ was scored when the ball was in the player’s own half (half-court rule). Team with the higher number of goals after the match duration wins the match. The winning team receives 3 points. The losing team zero. If a match ends in a draw, both teams receive 1 point each. At the end of the Group Stages, the team with the highest number of points will win the group. In the event of a tie, the team with the better goal difference shall be the winner. (13) Referees Each match will have one referee. The referee controls each match and has the full authority to enforce the Laws of the Game. The referee will be free to move around as he or she sees fit. Laws of the Game Law 1 – Players attire Players must report to the event in proper sports attire with covered shoes. Shin guards are highly recommended. The referee reserves the right to disallow a player from playing if he is deemed inappropriately attired for the game. If the team does not have at least 5 players who are appropriately attired for the game, the team will disqualified for that particular match and the opposition team will win the game with a 3:0 scoreline. Law 2 – Fouls and Misconduct Direct and indirect free kicks shall be taken for offences committed during the game. A penalty shall be awarded for direct kick offences within the penalty area. All direct free kick offences shall be counted as accumulated fouls. Yellow and red cards may be shown to all players in the court of play as well as subtitutes. The referees are authorised to take disciplinary action from the moment the players enter the pitch until the moment they leave it after the final whistle. Cautionable offences A player or a substitute shall be cautioned and shown the yellow card if he commits any of the following infringements: • unsporting behaviour • dissent by word or action • persistent infringement of the Laws of the Game • delaying the restart of play • failure to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a corner kick, kick-in, free kick or goal clearance • deliberately leaving the pitch without the referees’ permission Sending-off offences A player or a substitute shall be sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following offences: • serious foul play • violent conduct • spitting at an opponent or any other person • denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (with the exception of a goalkeeper inside his own penalty area) • denying an opponent moving towards the player’s goal an obvious goal scoring opportunity by committing an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick • using offensive, insulting or abusive language or gestures • receiving a second caution in the same match A team that has a player that is sent off will play with a player down for the remainder of the match. A player that is sent off shall be suspended for the next one game. An indirect kick shall be awarded against a goalkeeper for the following offences: after clearing the ball he touches the ball again before it touches the opponent he touches the ball with his hands from a kick-in he touches the ball with his hands or feet in his own half for more than 4 seconds. Law 3 – Accumulated fouls All fouls penalised with a direct kick are counted as accumulated fouls. For the first 3 fouls recorded for either team per half, the opposing team may form a wall 5m from the ball. No wall shall be formed for the 4th and future direct kicks. The second penalty mark will be used depending on where the 4th and subsequent fouls are committed. Law 4 – The penalty kick A penalty kick is awarded against a team that commits any of the offences for which a direct kick is awarded, inside its own penalty area and while the ball is in play. A goal may be scored directly from a penalty kick. The ball is placed on the penalty mark. The player taking the kick is properly identified. A defending player stays on the goal line until the ball is kicked. All other players are at least 5m form the penalty mark. Law 5 – The kick-in A kick-in is a method of restarting play. A kick-in is awarded when the ball crosses the touch line. A goal cannot be scored directly from a kick-in. The players of the defending team must be at least 2 metres from the place where the kick-in is taken. The kick-in must be performed within 4 seconds of the player taking possession of the ball. Law 6 – The goal clearance A goal clearance is a method of restarting play. A goal may not be scored directly from a goal clearance. A goal clearance is awarded when the ball crosses the goal line. The ball is thrown back into play from any point in the penalty area by the goalkeeper. A goal clearance must be done within 4 seconds of the goalkeeper having possession of the ball. |
